I want to be a photographer...
For as long as I can remember photography has fascinated me and gave wings to my imagination, wanting capture moments in time.
My first camera was a Kodak "aim-and-shoot" film camera and was my introduction to photography. It had no adjustable settings and always flashed, although I soon realized that this could be manipulated by removing the batteries. One day we were walking in the hills of my hometown and we picked up a small digital camera that we think was dropped by a motorcyclist and must have been lying there for a while, it had gotten wet, survived a fire (burnt and slightly melted in places) and had an insect living in the battery bay. We took it home and it was still working! That camera faithfully served me for a number of years and probably took a few thousand photos as it always hung by my side on all my adventures. I still have it and sometimes use it.
More recently I started to think about photography more seriously. I decided that that I wanted to pursue this more earnestly and, with the help of a close friend, with great excitement bought my first dslr camera.
Currently I am using a Nikon D90 which I'm finding to be an incredible piece of equipment, especially compared to my previous cameras!
I think photography has no limits and sometimes our imagination is only held back by what we think is physically possible and by the capabilities of our equipment.
My main interests in photography are wide nature landscapes, extreme and adventure sports and especially artistic and expressionistic styles like long exposure photography and painting with light.
Photography is an incredible medium to explore your artistic senses and creativity and I am exploring it one day at a time...
